The Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) was founded in 1890, based in Syracuse, New York, and was best known for their method of compressing wood pulp into shapes which gave the appearance that the object was hand carved. From what I can tell, the heyday of this method used by Syroco was around 1930 to 1949, and this naval themed trinket box likely came from this time—though I have found some examples of Syroco manufactured earlier.

The box shows quite a bit of wear and tear involving chips and peels, but structurally is sound, and the wear on it kindof gives it more character in my opinion.

Box exterior measures: 3.75" x 5.50" x 1.50"

Box interior measures: 2.75" x 4.50" x 1.00"
