Kon-Tiki is the record of one man's astonishing adventure across the Pacific Ocean. Intrigued by Polynesian folklore Thor Heyerdhal suspected that the South Sea Islands had been settled by an ancient race from thousands of miles to the east. He decided to prove his theory by building a boat using the materials that would have been available to those pre-Columbian sailors and duplicating their legendary voyage.
This early copy, released as a Book Club Edition by publisher Rand McNally & Company and copyrighted 1950 by Thor Heyerdahl, is in excellent condition, with a tight binding and unmarked pages. The dust jacket is in decent shape with a few scuffs and some small tears along its reverse to edge, but has been re-covered with a mylar protective jacket, so its good to go from now on.
