Hand Carved Bellamy-Style American Eagle Folk Art - circa 1940
John Haley Bellamy was an American folk artist from Portsmouth, New Hampshire who became known for his wood carings depicting bald eagles in various poses.
This hand carved eagle is in the tradition of John Bellamy and his eagle designs.
The craftsmanship is pretty great on this piece. It is carved from two large pieces of wood and it measures approximately 32" wide x 13.5" tall x 4.5" in depth.
It is signed on the back with the name of the artist: Joe O'Connor. I attempted to find out information on Mr. O'Connor and his work but I was unable to locate anything. The age of the piece is in question due to this, but it is guess from the look of the wood and the style of the craftsmanship, that the piece is at least vintage to the WWII era, perhaps even older.
PLEASE BE AWARE: Large Vintage items will add an additional $20.00 in shipping to any order. I know its kindof crummy.
