The Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) was founded in 1890, based in Syracuse, New York, and was best known for their method of compressing wood pulp into shapes which gave the appearance that the object was hand carved. From what I can tell, the heyday of this method used by Syroco was around 1930 to 1949, and these horse head bookends likely come from this time—though I have found some examples of Syroco manufactured earlier.

Book ends measure approximately 5" x 6" x 2.5" and have scuffs and wear as expected with their age, though they are completely intact.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Small Vintage items will add an additional $7.50 in shipping to any order. I know its kindof crummy. I really want to keep the price down on these items, but I also want them to get to you undamaged. Which costs a bit for packing materials and the shipment. Hopefully if you really wanna snag a deal, you live locally and can take advantage of our free in town pickup and delivery!
